Student Associations
Biodiversity Focus Group
Every year, students from the "Grund- und Fachstudium" in biodiversity can apply to serve as ambassadors for their cohort. Together, they form the Biodiversity Focus Group and are responsible, amongst other things, for facilitating the exchange of information between students and the department, appointing representatives to university committees, and helping to organise events (e.g. study information days, first-year student day).
The Focus Group meets once a semester with the Biodiversity programme coordinators to discuss various issues relating to the programme. Key points from the discussion are recorded in a report, which serves as part of the quality assurance process.
The Focus Group also serves as an important point of contact for all biodiversity students. Please speak to a member of your cohort’s Focus Group if you would like to discuss topics or suggestions of general interest. For any questions regarding your personal study situation, please contact the Biodiversity Programme Coordination directly at biodiversitaet@biol.uzh.ch.

BiUZ
The BiUZ is the association for students of biology, biodiversity and biomedicine at UZH and works on behalf of its members and students in the Department of Biology. It represents students of biology, biodiversity and biomedicine in dealings with the University, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, the academic staff, and the public.
BiUZ helps all biology, biodiversity and biomedicine students with questions regarding everyday student life, facilitates the exchange of experiences and information among students, and supports them by providing summaries and exam tips at Bio-Kickstart. Furthermore, during the semester, the BiUZ organises information events about the degree programme (first-year student day, Master’s information event) as well as numerous non-academic events such as parties, Bio-[Loge], first-year student dinner and fondue evenings. Jobs and Master’s thesis opportunities are also advertised on the website
